IBM (International Business Machines) is an American company. The originally (and still do) produced Mainframe computers.

They are sometimes known by the nickname "Big Blue"

In the late 1970's they broke into the desktop computer market and produced a number of computers. Modern "PC"'s are decended from the original IBM XT.
